Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thanks Arsenal fans for the support, says had issues with the manager

Aubameyang says that the rift against manager Arteta forced his move out of the club.

Following much speculations on whether the transfer would actually go through, FC Barcelona has somehow managed to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the last day of the January transfer window. The player’s contract runs until June 2025 and includes an option to agree on a departure in June 2023, plus a buyout clause of 100 million euros (£83.4m).

The player completed the move from Arsenal on a free transfer after a rift with manager Mikel Arteta ruled him out of the squad. Further, he was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following a disciplinary breach.

The 32-year old said, “I think it was a problem just with him [Arteta]. I can’t really tell you much. He wasn’t happy and that was it. I can’t say anything else because that’s what happened. I wasn’t very happy and I’m better this way.

“There were some complicated months. Sometimes football is like that. If I had to say something about this, I would say, on my behalf, I never wanted to do anything bad.

“Now I have to put this behind me, that is in the past. I want to think about the present.”

During his time at Arsenal, the Gabonese forward scored seven goals in 15 games across all competitions this season, and 92 in 163 overall appearances since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2018. Aubameyang did have a good start with Arsenal, being the top scorer in the league for the 2018-19 season, but he failed to continue his form.

Talking to the media, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stated that he is going to do everything possible to help the Spanish giants following the club’s exit from the Champions League.

He said, “I am mentally ready because I have clear ideas in my head. I will give it my very best from any position on the field,” he said.

“I have spoken to [Barcelona head coach] Xavi and he wants me to be centre forward, but if he ever wants me to play on the wings, I will do that no problem at all.”

FC Barcelona will restart their La Liga campaign with the crucial and a must-win game against Atletico Madrid.
