Premier League clubs have brought down the Spanish domination in the Champions League which took place from 2014-18 when Real Madrid and Barcelona ruled over Europe. In the past 3 years, we have seen an all English Champions league Final in 2019 and are about to see one again on Sunday when Manchester City and Chelsea face off in Porto.

When asked about his opinion on his English counterparts, Simeone responded, “I think so (Premier League clubs are the best in Europe).”

“The English championship is very strong. First, they have an economic investment from all the clubs that is very equal and very strong.

“In the other championships there are always two clubs: Paris, Bayern, Barcelona and Madrid. In England, Liverpool, Manchester, City or Chelsea can win. It is a more equal championship.

“When you see who has reached the semi-finals, and Chelsea and City [are in the final], it shows the good moment of English football.”

Simeone also praised Chelsea for their revival this season under Thomas Tuchel and admitted they were the better team in the 2-legged Round of 16 tie when they faced of in the Champions League.
