Real Madrid are interested in signing this AC Milan Midfielder as a free agent
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie who’s contract with the Rossoneri ends in the Summer of 2022. Kessie has been one of the key players of AC Milan since joining them in 2017 from Atalanta and he played a crucial role in taking them to the Champions League this year for the first time in eight years.
According to Diario AS, AC Milan will not be able to fund a contract extension for Franck Kessie and will thus have to let him go. Paris Saint Germain are being said to be the top contenders to secure the midfielder’s signatures as the Parisians are in search of a sturdy defensive midfielder as an alternative of Ginny Wijnaldum who is yet to leave a mark at Le Parc des Princes.
What makes Franck Kessie so desirable for Real Madrid
However, La Liga giants Real Madrid seem interested in the Ivory coast international as well. Casemiro has looked a bit off lately and Frank Kessie can offer him some good competition for the spot. Kessie, aged 24, can also be seen as a long-term replacement option for the Brazilian.
However, Los Blancos currently have two players who can play in that position – Eduardo Camavinga and Fede Valverde, and both are tested options. They are also very close to extending Luka Modric’s contract for one more year. So what is it that makes Frank Kessie so desirable for Real Madrid?
For starters, it might be the youngster’s ability to act as a pivot, his physicality (which makes him a like for like replacement for Casemiro) and his hunger to help in build ups. Franck Kessie has scored 32 goals and provided 15 assists in the 192 appearances that he made for the Serie A side. However, with stats like 89% passing accuracy (93% in own half), 80% successful dribbles, 1.2 interceptions per game and 1.4 tackles per game, it is these unnoticed yet important parts of the game that he aces at.
