Roma had a chance to climb up the table in Serie A before the ball was kicked off. As a typical Mourinho team, Roma started cautiously. The teams traded a few passes before upping the tempo. Both teams embraced an open football on the field. When it seemed like teams are going 0-0 at half time, Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the crucial goal to give 1-0 lead at half time.

In the second half, Empoli made two substitutions to equalize. However, the trick did not go well as the opposition scored the second one in the 48th minute through Mkhitaryan. The goal was enough for AS Roma to take home all three points. Roma enjoyed a lion’s share in the midfield and Empoli failed to do anything about at that. At the end of the game, it remained 2-0.
