Crystal Palace are still in the lookout for a new manager after Roy Hodgson stepped down from helm at Selhurst Park. They are looking to bring in someone who would ably replace the vastly experienced and successful Roy Hodgson and could cater to the need and aspirations of the club. However their managerial hunt has hit a roadblock as reportedly Lucien Favre has decided against joining Crystal Palace.
Lucien Favre pulls out of Crystal Palace negotiations
As per reports by The Guardian yesterday, Lucien Favre had a three year agreement in place after positive talks with The Eagles Chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman. The deal was set to go through pending a work permit and Favre was set to become the only second overseas manager of Crystal Palace.
However a fresh reports from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Lucien Favre will not join Crystal Palace despite having a verbal agreement over a contract for 3 years.
This comes as a blow for Crystal Palace who were looking to replace the vastly experience Roy Hodgson with Lucien Favre and were hoping that the club could mount a challenge for a place higher than their 14th place finish in the past two season.
Lucien Favre would have been an appropriate candidate for Crystal Palace. Favre boasts of an impressive CV were he guided Nice to a Champions League finish. He had a decent stint with Borussia Dortmund before he was sacked, after Dortmund lost 5-1 to recently promoted Stuttgart.
Why did Favre reject Crystal Palace?
Lucien Favre was apparently courted by Fernabeche, but he would not be joining them too Romano states. The former Swiss midfielder has decided to take a longer break from management citing this has reason for a late U-turn on the Crystal Palace offer. It has been insisted from Favre’s side that he won’t take up any job offer thus ruling out a move to Everton and Lille too.
Crystal Palace are in a tight spot with several player contract running out, they need to start their managerial hunt again.
