Romania named their 22-man squad for the games on 1st July, however it was a much weakened squad than the one which helped them secure qualification in 2019. They overcame difficult opponents in France, England and Croatia in the U-21 European Championships to clinch a berth to the games. However, they will be without their younger stars, who have withdrawn from selection citing different reasons.

Manager Radoi elected not to name any overaged players to the Romanian Olympic team. They will feature all U-23 players at the games with Andrei Ciobanu leading the charge for them. The attacking midfielder is one of the most experienced players in the squad and will be one to watch out for in this summer’s games.
