Manchester City opened their 21/22 UEFA Champions League campaign with a massive 6-3 win over RB Leipzig. Manchester City and Leipzig are joined by the French giants PSG and Club Brugge from Belgium in Group A.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has broken yet another record and this time it comes in the UEFA Champions League. Manchester City have become the fastest English Club to register 50 wins in the competition. The Manchester Club achieved this by winning the nine goal thriller against RB Leipzig winning the game 6-3 comfortably.  City achieved the feat after playing 91 matches. Spanish giants Real Madrid completed 50 wins in 88 matches, the record which stands till date having achieved it in 2003. City 50 wins in 91 matches is quicker than Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Nathan Ake opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 16th minute before fit again Kevin De Bruyne forced an own goal from Leipzig’s defender Nordi Mukiele. However Christopher Nkunku scored late in the first half, before Riyad Mahrez scoring from the penalty spot to restore his side’s two goal lead. Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus were also on the score sheet in the second half, with Nkunku completing his hattrick in the 73rd minute of the game. It’s not often you see a player score a hattrick and end up on the losing side.

Grealish shines for Manchester City in his first ever Champions League appearance

England international Jack Grealish made his long awaited UEFA Champions League debut for Manchester City against RB Leipzig. The former Aston Villa man was also named the man of the match after scoring a superb goal by cutting in on his right side and scoring a curling effort beating Leipzig Gulasci. He also provided the assist for Nathan Ake’s opening goal of the night.

Grealish has featured in all of his side’s first six matches of the season and have already hit the ground running under new manager Pep Guardiola, and will surely be a key player in their quest of winning the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy.
