The EURO 2020 is finally getting into its groove and we’re in Day 3 of this epic European continental tournament. The first match of Group C sees Austria take on minnows North Macedonia.
The Austrians are definitely favourite going into the fixture and have started the match as such on the pitch as well. Austria have taken a deserving lead after a first 18 minutes of dominance over their rivals.
Marcel Sabitzer has provided one of the assists of the competition for Austria
The goal came in the 18th minute of the first half from a breath taking assist from Marcel Sabitzer. The midfielder pinged in a beautiful cross-pass ball into the penalty box which was attacked by Stefan Lainier at the far post. The striker met the ball with a first time touch and volleyed it acrobatically past the goalkeeper to give Austria the lead.
Their lead has however, disappeared as North Macedonia have scored a goal themselves through their talisman Pandev in the 35th minute of the match. As things stand, the match is 1-1 although Austria are the dominant side controlling most of the play.
