Manchester United finally got their much needed equaliser through Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani who came in at half time. The Red Devils have struggled to cope up with the pace of Newcastle United for almost the entirety of the match today and the Magpies got completely charged up after their early 7th minute lead that came from an incredible strike from Aaron Saint Maximin.
Newcastle United’s players have been all-over the field for the entire 90 minutes and to be honest, it is a bit of a let down that they won’t be leaving with the full three points. They completely dominated the game and had Manchester United pinned to their own halves despite getting an early lead.
Ralf Rangnick’s men started to get back in the game from the very beginning of the second half. The dressing room pep talk clearly worked for the Reds as for the first time tonight they started chasing the ball and thus gave Newcastle United a hard time. But Manchester United’s redemption in the second half also kind of attributes to the fact that the Magpies were exhausted by then and started sitting back in the half since the resumption of the game.
Watch: Edinson Cavani’s goal
Manchester United players started getting more and more inside the opposition box and Edinson Cavani finally made good use of it in the 71st minute when he hit a loose ball (from inside the box) directly at a defender. It rebounded and went back to him; the Uruguayan made no mistake in converting it on the second instance.
