Former Barcelona icon Xavi Hernandez has now joined the Camp Nou in a different role and will be managing the club to lead them to glory. On Monday, he was formally revealed as manager at the Camp Nou, ahead of his first training session after returning to the club as Ronald Koeman’s replacement.
The Spaniard is already reshaping the club, even at the expense of teammates with whom he spent many years. He instantly stated that discipline is a trait that must be cultivated in order to rebuild the team to its rightful greatness.
Xavi left no stone unturned in putting some adjustments in place, dictating ten guidelines for his team to observe. Two of the guidelines are that individuals must keep a positive image and that their behavior off the field will be supervised.
According to one of his rules, when in public, everyone linked with the team will be required to act professionally and should avoid any conduct which may lead to controversy. His rules has affected defender Gerard Pique in a certain way and let us find out how.
Gerard Pique cancels TV Show appearance amid Xavi’s strict rules
The former Barcelona great is said to have imposed severe limitations on the Blaugrana’s players, with his most recent measure preventing Pique from appearing on a TV show. Pique had a TV interview scheduled for next week with El Hormiguero, a light-hearted TV show hosted by Pablo Motos that is known for its hilarious tone. However, Xavi’s admission has seen led Pique to cancel his appointment and focus fully on the sport.
It is not certain that the cancellation of Pique’s appearance on the TV Show is due to the new rules but there have been indications of this being true. Pique may have a harder time adhering to the new regulations because he spends a lot of time in the spotlight, especially since launching his own Twitch channel this year.
