Despite having scored over 500 goals in his career and dominating in almost all the leagues he played in, Zlatan Ibrahimovic never got the chance of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or – France Footballs annual Best Men’s player of the year award. The closest he got to winning the award was back in 2013 when he came 4th on the Ballon d’Or rankings with just 5.29% votes to his name. Cristiano Ronaldo won it that year with 27.99% votes. Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

At the launch event of his new book “Adrenaline: My Untold Story”, Zlatan Ibrahimovic said that he would love to win the Ballon d’Or once in his career but also argued that he does not need it to prove that he’s the best player in the world.

“The Ballon d’Or is a nice thing, but I don’t need it to prove that I am the best,” he said.
