Portugal launched their title defense in style in their opening game of the group stages of Euro 2020 as the defending European Champions claimed a 3-0 victory at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary in front a full capacity crowd. Portugal were clear favorites before the match started but Hungary were not in the mood to budge as they came into the game with an 11 match unbeaten streak. Cristiano Ronaldo scored one from the spot and rounded off with a calm finish into the Hungarian net, with Portugal opening the scoring earlier with a huge deflection from Guerreiro’s shot in the 84th minute.
Portugal Vs Hungary Player Ratings
However the score line hardly does justice to the stellar show put up by Hungary to keep the Portuguese stalwarts at bay and there is a feeling that Hungary were undone by tough luck late in the game.

Rui Patricio– 6/10
Had a quiet evening, got beaten at the near-post only for it to be called offside.

Ruben Dias– 6/10
Generally composed defending played long passes and had a great effort from the corner kept out by Gulasci.

Scored the opening goal, although a huge slice of luck was involved.
Tidy display and defensively strong
