Former Spanish footballer Miguel Jones, who played as a midfielder for Atletico Madrid passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81. The club said on social media that Jones will “forever live in our hearts”.
The club wrote on a Twitter that “We’re mourning the passing of club legend Miguel Jones, who will forever live in our hearts. May he rest in peace.”
Spanish football club Real Madrid also expressed its condolences over the death of Miguel Jones, “Real Madrid C.F. is deeply saddened by the passing of @atletienglish legend Miguel Jones. Our club wishes to convey its condolences to his family and friends, his club and to all of the Atletico de Madrid supporters,” Real Madrid tweeted.
Currently, many sporting events had been postponed or cancelled due to the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic. Spain’s premier domestic tournament, La Liga has also been postponed indefinitely due to the deadly virus.
According to Worldometer, around 1,518,773 positive cases has been reported worldwide, and nearly 88,505 people have died due to The Coronavirus Pandemic.
