Former BCCI curator G Kasturirangan passes away at 89

Former BCCI curator Gopalaswamy Kasturirangan died at the age of 89, on Wednesday. The former Karnataka cricketer died of a heart attack at his residence in Bangalore.

“G Kasturirangan passed away today morning. He died of a heart attack at his residence in Chamarajapet,” said Vinay Mruthyunjaya, Karnataka State Cricket Association treasurer.

Former cricketer-turned-administrator also served as the vice president of KSCA. He had mostly played his matches for Mysore in Ranji Trophy as a right-arm medium pacer from 1948 to 1963. He had also played 36 first-class matches in which he picked 94 wickets.

Cricketers express grief on Kasturirangan’s demise

Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble paid tribute to Kasturirangan. “Sad to hear about the passing of G Kasturirangan. He will fondly remembered for all his contributions to cricket. Heartfelt condolences to his family,” Kumble tweeted.

Also, fellow former international cricketers Dodda Ganesh and WV Raman condoled his demise.
