While her sister Serena Williams is playing strong, Venus Williams is on a losing streak. She has not won a Grand Slam since 2008 Wimbledon, where she beat her sister Serena in straight sets by 7-5 6-4.
Certainly, one of the oldest players in WTA Tour, Venus Williams has given so much to tennis, and has had a hand in a lot of positive development the game has undergone and wishes to contribute even more. She confirmed this news when a fan at Instagram asked her in a QA session if she wishes to continue after the coronavirus outbreak. She enthusiastically said, “Yeah. No doubt. God willing I’m going to be hitting this ball for a while”.
Although many people predicted her retirement, Venus is still enjoying the journey and doesn’t want to give up the opportunity to play with the best tennis players in the world at the most sacred temples of Tennis.
She considers the pandemic as a “gift of time” and is diligently working on her game in a wish to grab more WTA titles. When asked if she had a particular timeline for her tennis career, she said I don’t think there is like a limit or a maximum to how much I can play, I don’t necessarily have a plan. I’m not planning on quitting is probably the best way to say this”.
Due to the corona outbreak, WTA tour was suspended this year and there are no hopes for it to return till July. Venus is hopeful about gaining a victory in the upcoming tournaments and wishes to finish off her career gracefully with another Grand Slam title.
