While this season has by far been the most exciting in terms of competitiveness, it has also provided some of the most eventful events in F1. The action returned in Spa after the summer break, followed by races in Zandvoort, Monza, and Sochi which concluded the month of September. Apart from the crazy races, September also provided us with off-the-track drama as well with drivers moving from one team to the other. #5 Kimi Raikkonen announces his retirement from F1

The former Ferrari world champion and current Alfa Romeo driver, Kimmi Raikkonen finally announced his retirement from F1 at the end of this season. The ‘Iceman’ is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid at the moment, his energy and care-free attitude will be heavily missed by fans all over the world.

While Kimi departs next season, Alfa Romeo have confirmed the signing of Valtteri Bottas from Mercedes. Now it will be interesting to see if they retain Giovinazzi or will sign the rumored Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou.

After a full season of speculations and rumours, Alfa Romeo finally confirmed the signing of Valtteri Bottas for the next season. Their aim was simple, they had to replace Kimi and get another experienced driver, Bottas was just the one. On the other hand, things weren’t going Valtteri’s way at Mercedes as he was always a secondary driver to Lewis and never really got the opportunity to express his caliber.

As Bottas moved to Alfa Romeo, Mercedes instantly replaced him with their long-time target, George Russell. The British driver will partner up with Lewis for years to come.

#3 Williams sign Alex Albon

Williams welcomes Alex Albon with open arms as he is now confirmed as the new driver for Williams for seasons to come. This move became necessary after William’s marquee driver George Russell departed for Mercedes. Alex has previously raced for Red Bull in F1 and has good ties with them, he will now race alongside his new partner, Nicholas Latifi.

On the other hand, Mercedes’s team principal, Toto Wolff has said that Alex now must cut all ties with Red Bull as he races in a Mercedes engine next season. But Albon’s former team principal, Christian Horner has revealed that the Thai driver has the option to return to RB in 2023.

#2 Sochi Grand Prix

The Sochi Grand Prix was one of the most interesting if not the most interesting race of the season so far. From heartbreaks to late drama, Sochi had it all. After a dominating performance in Monza, Lando Norris yet again put out a fantastic day in qualifying as he earned the pole position going into the race. After losing P1 to Sainz, he regained his position later and led the race for more than half of the race.

Heavy rainfall in the latter stages of the race prevented Lando from getting him his first win in F1. While there was heartbreak, on one hand, there was joy and celebration on the other as Lewis Hamilton celebrated his 100th Grand Prix win, a feat which no driver has ever achieved in history.
