Alain Prost makes surprising admission on F1 triple headers

The 2021 formula 1 season had been one of its kind in F1 history where Red Bull’s Max Verstappen came out victories against 7 times world champion Lewis Hamilton in a dramatic championship run. One of the other key feature of 2021 championships as it hosted 22 races a record number till to date, which caused an interesting situation of triple headers to which fans reacted differently.

Alain Marie Pascal Prost the French  a four-time Formula 1 Drivers’ Champion, during his 1987 to 2001long career. He is now non-executive director with Renault who attends races regularly. He has now come out against occurrence 2 triple headers in 2022.

Alain Prost said the 23 races long season scheduled, will be the most in F1 history, for the F1 2022 season is a lot and the mental and physical discomfort it gives to the Formula 1 teams is a lot. Alain Prost went on say that having triple headers ill diminish the fans interest. Alain Prost added that having less races can be valuable for the sport.  

“Twenty-three races are a lot, very difficult for the teams, very difficult for the people travelling, some of the mechanics, engineers, team principals that [are] running all the races, some not always in a good condition, if you can imagine that, and it has to be very, very difficult,”  Alain Prost said.

And [F1] has to stay also exceptional. I remember, maybe not this year, but the first time we had three races in a row. And even for me, I was losing a little bit of interest in a way because it’s too close,”  Alain Prost explained.

It’s a compromise between the number of races, the number of fans and obviously the money you can generate, but if you have more success and you will bring more sponsors in, maybe we could have also a little bit less races. [But] it looks like it’s not the way we are going.” Alain Prost added.
