Breaking: Mercedes launch protest to Abu Dhabi Grand Prix result

The season finale of 2021 season might have ended in the favor of Mercedes winning the Constructors Championship but it saw Lewis Hamilton lose his 8th world champion to ace Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. With yet another controversial moment occurring in the last laps of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Toto Wolff and Mercedes were evident in showing their dismay with FIA and the racing stewards.

Race Director Michael Masi allowed the lapped cars in between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to overtake behind the safety car ahead of the restart. But the other lapped cars in the pack were not permitted to move through the field. Mercedes have protested the result.   

How can Mercedes approach the protest to Abu Dhabi GP result? 

Sky Sports commentator David Croft is expecting a Mercedes protest to come through shortly. According to the same medium, Toto Wolff and the rest. “My understanding is Mercedes have lodged to protest the official classification of the race. This might not be the end of the matter, I don’t think it is,” Croft said.
