Formula 1 was buzzing with the entry on this new kid on the block, Lewis Hamilton, who looked all geared up to make his debut with McLaren at the tender age of 23. He was considered to play second fiddle to the the defending world champion, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard was coming at the back of an almost flawless season after winning his second championship on the trot.
But, Lewis Hamilton was having none of it. He took the F1 fans and community by storm and won his first podium in the first race he featured in. That is something unheard of back in the day and even now. There are many talented drivers who fail to register a podium for the length of their career because talent is just not enough to win in Formula 1. One needs to show character when their mettle is tested.
Lewis Hamilton has had bags of it and from his first day in Formula 1, we all knew that this prodigy is destined for greatness. The former champion has definitely proved us right with the kind of performances that he has showered with week in and week out. From that very first podium, the Mercedes legend hasn’t looked back and went to achieve all the possible accolades in the sport and now stands toe to toe with the Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher for the most driver’s championship.
Lewis Hamilton has dominated Formula 1 for the best part of a decade and demolished almost every record during his time
Michael Schumacher was the first one to recognize that this kid, who was running riot on the racing track, was destined for greatness.
He said, “Lewis is a quality driver, very strong and only 16. If he keeps this up I’m sure he will reach F1.”
“It’s something special to see a kid of his age out on the circuit. He’s clearly got the right racing mentality.”
“He had tipped British Karting sensation Lewis Hamilton for future F1 success, after the two participated this weekend in the World Karting Championship event at Kerpen.” As reported by sportsrush.
But even Michael Schumacher wouldn’t have thought what Lewis Hamilton has gone on to do and the level of dominance that the seven time world champion has shown. The Briton was so close to winning that historic eighth world championship but eventually lost to Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton looks hungry to get his revenge sooner rather than later.
