“I Gave Everything Today”: Lewis Hamilton devastated after falling 19 points behind Max Verstappen

When Mercedes managed to secure a front row lockout after the Mexican GP Qualifying session, many thought that Lewis Hamilton could potentially turn the screws around against Max Verstappen and Red Bull. However, as Valtteri Bottas left enough space for Verstappen to make a run-on Turn 1 itself, the ace Dutchman was the one to beat throughout the race as he managed to extend his lead by 7 points against the reigning world champion.

On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton was just left with alone as Valtteri Bottas had to start from the back of the grid, courtesy to Daniel Ricciardo. With things not looking good for the Brit driver, it seems like 19 points deficit could be very challenging for the Brit ace driver.

What was opinionated by Lewis Hamilton?

“Well done, guys. This was a tough one,” Lewis Hamilton admitted after the race. The seven-time world champion was eventually unable to fight back for the win and saw Sergio Perez get closer and closer in his mirrors. Perez, however, could never mount a serious attack on Hamilton. “I gave everything today,” Hamilton concluded.

Now with only 4 races remaining, Hamilton would have to pull off a miracle to overcome the 19-point deficit. Moreover, he would have to need Valtteri Bottas to step up in the battle against Red Bull, if the Brackley based team wants to change the scenario of the current 2021 championship.
