Max Verstappen Doubts Red Bull Has Pace to Win Turkish Grand Prix

The Turkish Grand Prix hasn’t been the mostkind for Red Bull so far. However after Max Verstappen fetched the P2 spot for Sunday’s race, the Dutchman reveals that he is unsure about the pace of the challengers to be able to win the race in Istanbul against the fellow companions. With Ferrari and McLaren even impressing, Verstappen might be aware of the danger that these teams posses during the start.

Verstappen will start the race from the front row ahead of Charles Leclerc and behind Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas, who surely as the pace to get past the ace Red Bull driver on the straight. But how long before Lewis Hamilton catches up to the Dutchman? It remains to be seen as he starts from the middle sector.

“Starting second, I don’t think that’s a great place to start on the inside,” he added as per crash.net. “Because there is no grip on the inside line. We’ll see how that goes.” 

However, the Dutchman was left encouraged by the gains made by his Red Bull team going into qualifying following his struggles with a “balance mishmash” during Friday practice.

“I think we made some decent improvements compared to yesterday [Friday], where we were struggling a bit more to understand how to be quick around here,” Verstappen explained. “[We were] just trying to work on that and I think in qualifying again it was a little bit better, but of course still not perfect. I was still quite happy with the result at the end and the lap itself. Can’t really be too disappointed about that.”
