Take a look at the honest and emotional reaction from AlphaTauri engineer Chris Wright after Pierre Gasly's podium in Baku

The French Driver Pierre Gasly has truly changed his imagine with his good results since the 2020 Formula 1 season. Having experienced extreme setbacks with Red Bulls, Gasly’s seems like a completely changed driver with AlphaTauri. In his latest achievements, he secured the third place on the podium in Baku, which left his team’s engineer, Chris Wright over the moon.

Gasly’s ability to rise above himself and the AlphaTauri level again this year has not gone unnoticed. Gasly’s performance at Red Bull‘s sister team has been fantastic, as it was last year, and he’s almost always scoring solid points for his team.

AlphaTauri Power Unit Engineer Chris Wright praises the performance of the young driver. It shows how well Gasly currently lies with the staff of the Italian racing stable. “Pierre led the third free practice session and was fourth in qualifying. In a turbulent race, he kept fighting until the end. He also had a problem with the power unit so we were even happier with his third place.”

But it’s not just Gasly who gets credit from Wright in the blog. Rookie Yuki Tsunoda also had his best Grand Prix to date during the weekend in Baku. “Looking at AlphaTauri’s performance this year, I think this feels like a win. Pierre’s podium makes me speechless and also I am proud that Yuki Tsunoda finished within the points.”

AlphaTauri are unlikely to overtake Ferrari and McLaren in the constructors’ championship, but fifth place should still be doable for Frans Tost and his men this year. It has been a good season for AlphaTauri so far.
