Rain has played a major factor in the past few races this season. Late drama in Sochi last weekend provided us with one of the best races this season, while there was heartbreak on one side for Lando Norris, there was history created on the other by Lewis Hamilton.

With the current weather predictions predicting a heavy rainfall on Sunday, we could be in for another race filled with drama and action. Have the teams learned their lesson from the previous races? only time will tell.

As the clouds will hover over Istanbul Park, it will bring crashes with it. As we saw in Sochi, rain makes the track very slippery and it is almost impossible to drive without a pair of intermediates. The Turkish Grand Prix has never failed to give us an exciting race and fans around the world will be eyeing an action-packed weekend again.

Several drivers spun in the Turkish GP last season, Valtteri Bottas spun a total of six times during the race as he finished 14th. We also witnessed a number of collisions between a number of drivers which forced them to retire from the race.

3: Charles Leclerc or Lando Norris to secure a podium

Charles Leclerc eager for First Place not Fifth in 2021 Formula 1 season

Lando Norris was the unluckiest driver in Sochi as he failed to secure the first win of his Formula 1 career after leading the race for almost 90% of the laps. McLaren saw their best weekend in Monza as both Ricciardo and Lando finished P1 and P2 respectively, though he was unlucky in Sochi, Norris will be eyeing his first win at Istanbul.

Another young driver who has the hunger to win is Charles Leclerc. While the results are yet to come for the Ferrari driver, he will be looking to make a comeback and secure a podium at the Turkish GP after finishing 15th in Sochi.

2: Lewis Hamilton to take a grid penalty

With Lewis Hamilton on his third engine already, the seven remaining races could see him taking the fourth one as his rival, Max Verstappen did in Sochi. This will mean that the British driver will have to take a grid penalty as he will exceed the maximum number of engines allowed in the course of the season, which is three.

When asked about this decision, Toto Wolff gave nothing away but said that the decision will be taken spontaneously. He told RTL that “If we do switch power units, it will happen spontaneously. We would have just as much of a disadvantage as Red Bull had at Sochi.”

1: Max Verstappen to take back lead in the World Championship standings

With rumours circulating around the paddock that Lewis Hamilton might take a new and his fourth engine of the season and will suffer a grid penalty because of it, the Turkish Gp will provide Verstappen the perfect opportunity to take the lead back in the Championship standings.

The Dutch driver is currently just two points behind Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton and is definitely not coming slow. Verstappen has been in excellent form recently and will be looking to finish ahead of his rival this weekend.
