Twitter Hails Lewis Hamilton’s Heroics As Valtteri Bottas Clinches Pole To Add To Mercedes’ Lead

Living up to the hype and the excitement of it, the sprint qualifying provided the spectators with a brilliant session as there was drama from the very beginning. After all the chaos and the drama which took place off the track, Lewis Hamilton who initially had pole position, started from the back of the grid after the FIA handed Mercedes and Hamilton a penalty for breaching the rules. This meant that Max Verstappen who qualified second on Friday, started from pole position today followed by Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez in P2 and P3 respectively.

A brilliant start from Valtteri Bottas ensured he overtook Verstappen in the very first lap of the race as he defended his lead and clinched pole for the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday. The real hero turned out to be Lewis Hamilton who gained a massive 15 positions in the sprint qualifying as he finished P5 but will start from P10 tomorrow as he serves his 5-grid penalty because of a new ICE which Hamilton took this weekend.

After a brilliant outing from both the drivers on Saturday, Mercedes and Toto Wolff would certainly have a very optimistic yet aggressive approach going into the Brazilian Grand Prix. The point difference between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen currently stands at 21, which was further extended today as Verstappen gained 2 more points by finishing 2nd in the sprint qualifying.
