Valtteri Bottas saw the world championship slip out of the hands of his teammate who dominated by Yas Marina since the first lap. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s epic rivalry has come to an end with the Dutch being crowned as the world champion. Being the first ever Dutch Formula 1 Champion, Red Bull might have lost the Constructors, but they have surely ended the domination of the seven-time world champion.

However, after the result Valtteri Bottas was honest in revealing his frustration and disappointment as he now moves onto the next chapter in his Formula 1 career with Alfa Romeo.

Lewis Hamilton looked set to take his eighth World Championship, but it was lost after a late safety car changed the situation. Speaking to Sky Sports, Bottas is visibly disappointed.

“I haven’t seen anyone yet, but I can feel it. We wanted both titles. Getting constructors again is huge. But at the same time, it hurts because Lewis didn’t get the drivers. I feel like I lost the championship because he lost it. I really feel gutted for him, I feel he deserved it today. Then things change, that’s sport. Sometimes it goes against and sometimes it goes for you, today was not our day,” Bottas said.

“I am sure they make decisions for safety. If there was a car sideways, normally you need a safety car. Just unlucky.”
