Azerbaijan GP, sixth round of the Formula One season will be the next race on the calendar. Max Verstappen leads the championship currently, after finishing P1 at the Monaco GP. The Dutch driver has 105 points to his name so far, whereas, Lewis Hamilton has 101 points from five races.

Max Verstappen claimed his second win of the season on Sunday, whereas, Lewis Hamilton has three wins to his name. However, the Briton finished seventh at Monaco GP, which costed him the position at the top of the championship.

Azerbaijan GP will be held in the city of Baku from June 4-6, 2021. The first race was held in 2017, and there have been only three races so far in Baku. Last year, the race was cancelled owing to the covid-19 pandemic.

Azerbaijan GP Past Winners

Daniel Ricciardo won the first edition of the Azerbaijan GP in 2017. However, the biggest talking point of the race was the crash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. In 2018, Lewis Hamilton won the race, as Kimi Raikkonen finished second. On the other hand, Sergio Perez finished third.

Valtteri Bottas claimed the victory in 2019, as his Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton finished second. Sebastian Vettel took the last spot on the podium. Baku has proved to be a difficult hunting ground for Max Verstappen as he has failed to win in any of his three races so far. Moreover, he has never been on the podium in Azerbaijan.

The championship battle is heating up, as Red Bull and Mercedes are separated by just one point in the constructors championship. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen continue their battle on the tracks, and have also engaged in war of words.
