Carlos Sainz ended his dream run in Monte-Carlo, as he secured his first podium finish of the season. The Ferrari driver grabbed the second place on the podium, and took home the vital 18 points for his team and himself. It was an important race for Sainz, as his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc could not start the race due to gearbox damage.

Valtter Bottas was running P2, before a pit-stop mishap ruined his chances to win the race. As a result, the Finnish driver was forced to retire his car for the second time this season. Carlos Sainz tried attacking Max Verstappen, who was running P1, and even cut the gap to just under three seconds. But the Spaniard never had the pace to catch up to the Dutchman, who eventually won the race in some style.

Carlos Sainz secures first podium finish of the year

Carlos Sainz finished on the second place in all three practice sessions in Monte-Carlo. The Ferrari driver continued his good form, and finished on the fourth spot in the qualifying, which was his best performance so far this season. Valtteri Bottas’ and Charles Leclerc’s ouster from the race, gave him an opportunity to finish on the podium.

Carlos Sainz was delighted with his performance this week, and stated that he was proud of the team’s effort. “It is a good result, if you told me before coming to Monaco I would finish second, I would take it! “Ferrari as a team need to proud about the car and the step we have made,” said Sainz.

What was impressive about Carlos Sainz on Sunday, was that he maintained his pace throughout the race, and gave no chance to Lando Norris who ran behind him. The Spaniard has repaid the faith, Ferrari has vested in him this season, after securing a vital podium finish in Monte Carlo.
