Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are engaged in a tense championship battle this season. As things stand after five races, Verstappen leads the championship by just four points after his impressive win at Monaco GP a few weeks ago. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton slipped to the second spot, after finishing P7 in Monte Carlo.
Lewis Hamilton is clearly a more experienced driver as compared to Max Verstappen, but the Dutch driver believes that does not make him a more complete driver. “Yes, he’s (Lewis Hamilton) more experienced. But that doesn’t mean he’s more complete. It’s my opinion and there’s no need for anyone else to agree with me,” said Verstappen.
When asked whether he envies Lewis Hamilton in any way, the Dutch driver responded in the negative. “No and I don’t envy anyone anything. I’m very happy with who I am. I’m lucky to be in F1 and the life I live. And I’m not jealous or envious of anyone. I’m happy if someone has a life,” said Max.
I hope to finish ahead of everyone: Max Verstappen
For the first time in his career, Max Verstappen has the opportunity to win the championship. He has already taken huge strides in this aspect, and leads the championship for the first time in his five year long career.
With several changes in place for the 2022 season, many teams have already shifted their attention onto the next year. However, Verstappen believes that Red Bull will give it’s all this year, as they have a good shot at the title.
“I hope 2021 can be remembered as a good year,” he said. “Obviously I hope to finish ahead of everyone, but I’m not the only one who dreams of that. You have to live in the present, I know I have to be fast and we will have to work hard throughout the season,” added Max Verstappen.
“I know a lot of people are already working for 2022, but we have a good opportunity this year and we will have to give everything,” he continued.
