Lewis Hamilton failed to score points at the Azerbaijan GP 2021, as he made a late error. However, to his advantage, championship leader, Max Verstappen failed to score points in Baku after a late tyre failure.
Lewis Hamilton is expected to sign a contract extension with Mercedes in the future, but he does not see himself racing at the age of 40. However, he believes that life is full of surprises, and he cannot guarantee it.
“I honestly hope I’m not racing at 40. There are so many things I want to do that it would be difficult. But in life the evolution is so fast that it can surprise you. For example, I didn’t expect to have as much fun as I am having this season,” Hamilton said.
He’s an amazing driver: Lewis Hamilton on Max Verstappen
Lewis Hamilton stated that Max Verstappen is an amazing driver and the duo have great respect for each other. The Briton stated his decision to not race till the age of 40, is not because of Max Verstappen’s emergence.
“I don’t think it’s because of Max or anyone else,” said Hamilton. The 36-year old stated that he is discovering himself every day, and wants to be a part of new things.
“The reason is because I’m discovering new things about myself every day. With the pandemic lockdowns I’ve had more time to refine my talent, body and mind. Yes, on and off the track,” Hamilton on mutual respect between him and Max Verstappen. “And it doesn’t have to change. He’s an amazing driver and it’s a lot of fun to challenge him,” he added.
