Lewis Hamilton will not retire; to resume his bid for a record eighth F1 title in 2022: Reports

Much had been made of Lewis Hamilton’s retirement after the events that occurred at the Abu Dhabi GP a couple of weeks ago. The 36-year-old must have felt that his record eighth title was just snatched away from him on the final lap of the race.

In an interview last week, Toto Wolff admitted that the whole team were pretty disillusioned by the events occurring at the Yas Marina Circuit. The Austrian revealed that he can give no guarantees as to whether Lewis Hamilton will go racing again in 2022.

However, as reported by the Italian version of Motorsport, Lewis Hamilton will be on the grid once again in 2022 as contrary to what Toto Wolff mentioned. The Briton will be keen to avenge his defeat to Max Verstappen next year, when a huge overhaul of changes come into effect.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas forged a brilliant five-year partnership together at Mercedes, which came to an end with the conclusion of the 2021 season. Bottas will now move to Alfa Romeo, whereas, George Russell finally makes his much anticipated move to Mercedes.

Mercedes will now have an all-Briton pairing for next year, as they will look to win their ninth consecutive constructors championship. It will be interesting to see as to how Russell adapts himself at Mercedes, given the huge amount of expectations from him.

Although not confirmed, yet it is great news for Formula One fans as they will witness Lewis Hamilton for atleast one more season. The seven time champion had signed a two year contract extension, which means he could drive for Mercedes until 2023.
