Prevailing world champion Max Verstappen seems to be well adjusted with the concept of “anything can happen” in the sport of F1 as the year 2022 marks a new era for the motorsport with its newly implemented technical rules and regulations. These new rules and regulations have been put into effect with the objective of making competition on the grid fairer so as to ensure that bottom placed teams get a chance to compete with the top two teams on the grid too. They’re also supposed to help the drivers in the skill of overtaking.

The 24-year-old Red Bull driver set the fastest time of the afternoon session of Day Three by finishing a second faster than all the drivers on the grid that day. With his spectacular results at the Bahrain phase of testing, he’s marked Red Bull as one of the easy favourites to have a favourable outcome at the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.

This season will possibly feature a three-way fight for the championship as Ferrari has displayed intense amounts of valour at both the phases of testing in Barcelona and Bahrain. The Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz has had a fantastic run with their F1-75 which has shown a lot of reliability unlike a lot of the cars on the grid.

On being asked on his thoughts about the Bahrain Grand Prix after the two phases of testing at Barcelona and Bahrain, Max Verstappen replied, “We learnt a lot at testing in Barcelona and Bahrain, I’m very excited to turn our attention to racing now, it’s a whole new era for the sport and anything can happen.”

He then elaborated on the need to bring the entire grid together and make the new rules and regulations easier to follow. He hopes to see these new changes being reflected in the first race of the season at the Bahrain International Circuit. “Everything is so new so there are a lot of unknowns heading into the first race of the season. I’m looking forward to seeing where we are compared to the rest of the grid come qualifying on Saturday.”

He further talked positively about the RB18 after a good testing run at Barcelona and Bahrain and affirmed that as a team, they’re in a good place. “The most important thing for us in Bahrain is to have a stable weekend without too many issues and we hope to score a good amount of points.” The first race of the season kicks-off this weekend at Bahrain from 10 March to 12 March.
