Formula One managing director, Ross Brawn has made certain predictions which have raised some eyebrows but also give a sense of relief to all the teams other than Red Bull and Mercedes as Formula 1 could be a level playing field for all the teams.

It has been ascertained that Formula 1 is sport rich with money and it has become one of the essential ingredients in order to reach the top. Red Bull and Mercedes have shown that in the previous seasons. Their deep pockets have helped them make it a two horse race in the previous few seasons.

Red Bull and Mercedes fiercely battled it out in the last season and didn’t give an inch to the other. But the last season also exposed the gap between these two and the chasing pack. The gap is huge.

The monopoly of Red Bull and Mercedes might be about to be over, Ross Brawn predicts

Ross Brawn has predicted that the gap can be reduced considerable and he backed it by comparing it to the change which happened from 2008 to 2009. In 2008, McLaren and Ferrari fought it out like Mercedes and Red Bull but were caught napping after the significant aerodynamic changes that took place in 2009.

Brawn said, “I don’t think it will be that severe [this year]. I’m not predicting that but it is a very good point.”

“And this is what’s going to happen going forward because you are going to have to balance your financial resource in each season against the following season.”

“You won’t be able to throw money at it anymore.”

“That was something teams with deep pockets, or no limits to their pockets, could do, just keep throwing money at the challenge, and they can’t do that anymore,” as reported by gpfans.

This will be a much needed change if it pans out in the way that Ross Brawn. As a neutral, there’s nothing more one would expect than to see more teams in the mix to win the driver’s as well as the constructor’s championship and would prefer if money’s impact on the success of the drivers be as limited as possible.
