Formula One Racer Sergio Perez tests positive for COVID-19


Just when we think everything is slowly getting back to normal, the virus hits harder than before. The number of cases have again started to increase, which again may result in cancellations or postponement of some events.

Recently Sergio Perez, Formula One driver, tested positive for COVID-19. On Thursday, his Racing Point team said that, following this will miss this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

Statement from Sergio Perez’s team

Sergio Perez’s team in a statement said, “Following the announcement that Sergio has tested positive at the Silverstone Circuit ahead of the British Grand Prix. The team regrets to announce that he wil be unable to participate in this weekend’s race.”

“Sergio is physically well and in good spirits, but he will continue to self-isolate under the guidelines of the relevant public health authorities. Safety and ultimate priority for the team and the support,” the team added.

Who will replace him?

Either Sergio’s fellow Mexican Esteban Gutierrez or Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne will likely to replace the Sergio Perez for upcoming Sunday’s race. This race is the fourth round of this season’s truncated calendar.
