Chelsea players in training

Now the club is looking forward to recruiting more players in the winter transfer window. According to popular transfer window spokesman Fabrizio Romano Declan Rice is the major target for the Blues at the moment.

The West Ham United defensive midfielder is on hot radar for Frank Lampard who highly appreciated the player. Rice is an English international who was at one point part of the Chelsea academy.

Mason Mount and Declan Rice are extremely close friends off the pitch and this connection could well work in favour of Chelsea which hosts a lot of Declan’n close mates in Tammy Abraham, Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

I have ideas,’ said Lampard. ‘We have a big squad, we’ll have to see if that changes, if there are opportunities for players who aren’t playing so much. That will be a conversation between the player, club and myself.

Then we’ll see if we can strengthen in the right way, but we’re not jumping up and down to do so. My focus this year is purely on work because we have new players, because we have young players, so I’m focusing on that. But we’ll see, it’s a long month.’

Timo Werner is struggling to score

Chelsea need to make sure they now bring in player’s who are well suited to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. As evident by the struggles of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, players from other leagues will take timo to adjust.

Should Chelsea pursue after Declan Rice it could well mean the end of the road for Jorginho. The Italian international will definitely be looking at other options and clubs to find regular playing time.
