Two-time Wimbledon champion and 7th-seed Petra Kvitova will have her task cut out when she battles against rising-star Leylah Fernandez in the Round of 32 at the French Open 2020. Fernandez, who has only this month turned 18 has shown a lot of maturity at Roland Garros, claiming the best result of her tender career till now. What makes the match more exciting, though, is the rarity to watch two left-handers play against each other.

Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, Kvitova has been ruthless in her approach. The 30-year old Czech first sailed past home favourite Oceane Dodin 6-3, 7-5 in the opening round and then thrashed Jasmine Paolini in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

On the other hand, Fernandez has had to battle hard in both the matches. The 18-year old Canadian first stunned 31st-seed Magda Linette 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the Round of 128 and then scraped past Polona Hercog 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in a closely-fought second round contest.
