The Free to Play open-world Action RPG that took the gaming world by storm, Genshin Impact receives its first major update, namely, update 1.1.

The update, titled “A New Star Approaches” releases on PC, Android, iOS, and PS4 on November 11th. Genshin Impact is also playable on PS5 courtesy of Backwards Compatibility, sporting faster load times owing to the console’s power.

New Additions to Genshin Impact

Two of the 4 new characters to be added to Genshin Impact in the new update

Firstly, 4 new playable characters will be added to the game, they are Childe, Zhongli, Xinyan, and Diona. Childe is a water elemental archer with the capability to switch between long-range and close-range attacks. Zhongli, an earth elemental character who can deal with large amounts of area of effect damage also has strong defensive stats. Childe and Zhongli are 5-star characters while the others are 4-star characters.

The game’s maiden seasonal event comes with this update as well, called Unreconciled Stars which tasks players with opposing a sudden catastrophe that threatens the game world. The event brings brand new quests and co-op challenges with the chance to earn the 4-star character Fischi.

The game also gets a new “Reputation” system allowing players to improve their reputation as they explore new areas and receive rewards based on their reputation. These rewards are based on the region within the game and the player’s reputation in the said region.

Some major aids to exploration will also be added. Among these are a portable stove, a compass that points to treasure and a portable waypoint.

The game gained traction drawing comparisons to the critically acclaimed Nintendo Switch exclusive Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild. This is the first major update in a great game with lots of potential, and hopefully it’ll only get better.
