Grigor Dimitrov feels there is something else in life other than Tennis
Grigor Dimitrov
Also known as ‘Baby Fed’, for his similarity with Roger Federer in playing single-handed backhand, Grigor Dimitrov has had a topsy-turvy career so far. This year, he started the Tour positively reaching the semifinals in Acapulco, however, the season got suspended indefinitely due to the corona pandemic.
According to Dimitrov, last 18 months or so have taught him that there is life beyond tennis too. He has credited this to the adversities he faced during this time.
There is more to life than tennis: Dimitrov
Grigor Dimitrov has had a roller-coaster ride in last one-and-a-half year. The 2017 Nitto ATP Finals winner said, “Last 18 months, I have faced a lot in different aspects. This has made me realize that setting long-term goals are ineffective and living in present is beneficial.” as quoted on Sky Sports.
He further stated the reason for his logic.
“Last year, i was down with injuries that made me drop to 84 or 85 in rankings. This year, when I was just starting to look good the pandemic occurred. This has kept me out of tennis for better part of the last two years. However, honestly speaking, it wasn’t bad at all. My focus right now is to get going with the good things and once again I would say a break isn’t really a bane.” Dimitrov said.
Inauspicious return
Dimitrov returned to tennis in June when he played in the Adria Tour organized by Novak Djokovic, where his campaign abruptly came to a halt when he became the first participant to test COVID-19 positive. During the quarantine period, he used the time to assess his life.
The Bulgarian said, “I have used these 14 days to bring some practicality in my game. Right now I want to fix one or two things so I come full throttle on the court. I am focused at present and not too worried for the next season. I am ready to slug it out once again.”
