Gujarat Giants, led by skipper Amit Panghal, won the very high-voltage final against Punjab Panthers by 4-3 in inaugural Big Bout Indian Boxing League on Saturday.

The power packed team of superstar boxers such as Sarita Devi, Duryodhan Negi, Ashish Kumar, Poonam, Rajesh Narwal, Amit Panghal along with players like, Chirag and Scott Forest from Scotland have led the team to win first season and remain unbeaten.

Darshana Doot (women’s 51kg) and Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Abdulmalik Khalakov (57kg) scored well-crafted victories to put Panthers 2-0 ahead, but the Ashish Kulheria (69kg) and Panghal (52kg) hauled the Giants back on track in the heart beating final.

Sonia Lather won against legendary Sarita Devi in the classic women’s 60kg bout took the Panthers one victory away from the crown.

But the Giants’ heavyweight star Scott Forrest who is from Scotland dished out a gutsy show to take the contest into the final bout of the boxing SANGRAM.

In the final bout of the league Gujrat’s Ashish Kumar then beat Yashpal in the climactic 75kg battle as Gujarat Giants took home the winners’ trophy.
The Gujarat Giants have registered a powerful season and boxers had good practice before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers. The Big Bout Indian Boxing League has proven to be a huge success for the team, the Adani Group backed Gujarat Giants have emerged as true heroes of the league.
