Gunfire at Mehar Singh’s Akhada, five dead and two injured
The firing took place at a wrestling centre- Mehar Singh’s Akhada in Rohtak, Haryana, where five were killed, and two were injured. The unfortunate incident happened on Friday.
As per reports, Police investigation suggested an old rivalry as the reason for the firing.
According to police officials, some enmity amongst wrestling coaches could have led to the firing in the akhada. As per preliminary information, the officials said a wrestling coach is alleged to have opened fire, but police said they were verifying exact details.
Of the seven bullets that were fired, five were deceased while two were left groaning in pain.
As of now, three of the five dead have been identified as Pradeep Malik, Puja and Sakshi. Police sources also mentioned that the injured included a three-year-old child of one of the deceased.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem
The police have taken incharge of the bodies and have sent them for post-mortem. The wounded have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In a report, Dainik Jagran said the deceased include two woman wrestlers and a coach.
“We have formed police teams which are gathering more information about the incident,” a police officer was quoted as saying by PTI.
Rohtak Range IG Sandeep Khirwar told PTI that forensic experts and police investigators were at the crime scene.
