Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have replaced the injured Rinku Singh with Gurkeerat Singh Mann. KKR had a decent Indian Premier League (IPL) season last year but missed out on making the playoffs narrowly. They finished 5th and were condemned to missing out on the playoff due to a slump in their final fixtures. They would be out to come up with a much better showing this time around.

KKR have made some quality signings this time around although they didn’t change their team combination too much. Shakib Al Hasan was an important signing that they made as was the experienced offie Harbhajan Singh. With Sheldon Jackson, Pawan Negi and Karun Nair joining too, they look like a team that can potentially qualify for the playoffs and challenge for the IPL title as well.

Rinku Singh has been a part of the KKR franchise since the 2018 season of the IPL. However, the promising left-handed batsman and part time right-handed off-break bowler hasn’t got a lot of chances to prove himself. Now, he has pulled out of the 2021 edition of the IPL due to a knee injury that he suffered. KKR announced in a release that the UP batsman would be unavailable throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Gurkeerat Singh Mann who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise last season has been acquired as a replacement at his base price of Rs. 50 lakhs. Gurkeerat is an experienced campaigner in the IPL, having played a total of 41 matches since his debut in the 5th edition of the tournament in 2012.
