“He always finds a way to win” Andrey Rublev praises Rafael Nadal
The Russian, Andrey Rublev has won at his home ground and is into the top 10 rankings standing at number 8. Rublev successfully qualified for the ATP tour finals in London. He has shown some immense talent for winning four titles in 2020.
After winning the title, Rublev speaks on the inspiration he garnered from Rafael Nadal’s 13th French Open title. The 22-year-old will turn 23 on Tuesday. He knows there are always parts of his game he can enhance.
Rublev praises Nadal highly
The young Russian won his ATP title at St. Petersburg to make it to the ATP Finals in London. Rublev spoke highly of the fellow Spaniard after his victory. He even cited the mental strength of the World No.2 at the recently concluded French Open 2020.
“I cannot imagine how — I’m not even talking about [just at] the Grand Slams — it is possible what he is doing,” Rublev said. “To be mentally that strong all your life and all your career, I don’t know how it is possible,” Rublev said.
“Rafa is the only one player in history that it doesn’t matter how he feels, bad or good. In the end he always finds a way to win…If he is not winning, he is losing in three sets after three hours if it is not [at] a Grand Slam. If it is [at] a Grand Slam, it is going to be five hours and [against] the players that are really good… I don’t know how it is possible to be this strong mentally during all his career,” he added.
The Russian feels that the mental strength of Rafa is commendable. It is the mental strength that makes Rafa the superior player for Rublev.
