Fabinho was a part of Real Madrid’s Castillas
Looking back the 2012/13 season Real Madrid B team was really something extraordinary. It had the likes of Alvaro Morata leading the line with current furst team midfielder Casemiro bossing it in the centre. Lucas Vasquez running up amd down the flanks with Fabinho and Diego Llorente at the back. Moreover the attack also boasted of Jesse Rodriguez as well as Russian international Dennis Cheryshev.
The coach at that time has revealed that Fabinho when he came in was 6ft 2 inches ik height but prefered to play at right back and occasionally in the heart of the defence. However he would never be active in the midfield like he is nowadays.Alberto Toril was the coach of this Madrid B team that season and he remembers Fabinho well.
Fabinho would make 30 appearances for Madrid that season. He was also handed out his senior Real Madrid debut by Jose Mourinho later in the campaign.
“He was very shy, but you could immediately see his potential as a player. When he arrived, he occupied a somewhat strange position for the type of footballer he was. He was 1.90m (6ft 2in), but he was a right-back, which is unusual, no?
“He played on occasion as a centre-back, but never as a midfielder. At the time he just wasn’t seen as a midfield player, although we were not sure where his best position would be in the future.”
