The fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Leon Edwards is turning into a modern-day Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov fight. After being canceled two times previously, this fight was booked again in March.

But looks like the MMA gods don’t want to give these fans this fight soon. The UFC president Dana White in his latest interview with ESPN told that Khamzat pulled his name from the fight because he is still recovering from COVID-19.

The first time this fight was booked in December, that time Edwards gets caught with COVID. After that the fight is booked for Fight Island in January, this time Khamzat gets caught with COVID and now he is still lingering with the same issue.

Dana White also made it clear that this time it is uncertain that this fight is going to be rescheduled again or not. Edwards is on an eight-fight win streak and he has last fought inside the Octagon in July 2019.

After this news broke in, The ‘Nicest Motherf**ker’ Stephen Thompson called out Leon Edwards to face him in place of Khamzat Chimaev. With his tweet, Thompson says, “Hoping for a full recovery Khamzat Chimaev, Leon Edwards let’s give the fans what they want to see! #3 vs #5,”

Wonderboy last fought inside the Octagon in December 2020 against the undefeated Geoff Neal and gave him the first defeat of his UFC carrier. Thompson looked excellent in this fight and if he gets booked against Leon Edwards,

This will help him to get closer to getting the UFC title shot. Now let’s see if Edwards accepts his challenge and the promotion books a fight between these both.
