American ace, Serena Williams has claimed that she has been living in constant fear since March. However, The 39-year-old tennis player will take part in the upcoming US Open tournament.

The declaration issued by USTA has made Serena concerned. Even though the major purpose of the waiver is to avoid any legal complications, it has surely stirred anxiety in players.

Serena Williams is one of the strongest athletes, not merely in tennis but in the sporting world. Thus, her fears may delude fans, but Serena’s apprehensions have a reason. In 2011, she underwent surgery as she suffered a pulmonary embolism. She had a blood clot removed in the operation.

“I no longer have full lung capacity…So I’m not sure what would happen to me. I think I could manage, but I don’t want to find out.” Serena said, as quoted by Blick.

Serena Williams had a hard time in 2011 when she developed blood clots in her lungs. She will be precautious as she has decided to take part in the upcoming Grand Slam.

Everyone around the world has been using masks, but the 23 time Slam champion claims she carries 50 masks along with her. During the lockdown, she maintained complete isolation and lived in a so-called “Serena Bubble” Serena says,

“I’m a little neurotic…I have around 50 masks that I travel with, I just don’t want to be without one.”

It is better to be safe than sorry. It will be interesting to see Serena play at her home, but without fans. She has depicted it to be “wild”. The US Open begins on 31st August. Despite her fears, she will take part in the US Open and compete to beat Margaret Court’s record.
