Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from UFC after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. The Dagestani shocked the world in the post fight interview when he announced his retirement saying that he wouldn’t be able to continue without his late father by the ringside and that he has promised his mother that the Justin Gaethje fight would be the last one. Thereby, he left UFC as arguably the greatest fighter of all time. Ever since his retirement, there have been talks of Khabib Nurmagomedov coming back out of retirement; although, the Dagestani has kept silent, rumors of his retirement never cease.

Speaking of this to Laura Sanko of ESPN MMA, Khabib’s friend and teammate Daniel Cormier revealed that money will never be the motivation if at all Khabib Nurmagomedov decides to return. He also added that Khabib’s net worth is more than 5 million,(referencing the time when Khabib told Cormier that 5 million was enough to be rich in Dagestan) further cementing the fact that money wouldn’t be the motivation for the ‘Eagle’s‘ return.

Dana is gonna have to tap into something within his spirit to try to get him to fight again” – Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier was quoted as saying, “I don’t know how much the money is gonna be the thing that draw him [Khabib] back into the octagon. Dana is gonna have to tap into something within his spirit to try to get him to fight again because he is one of those guys that doesn’t need as much…he makes so much money outside the octagon at this point…I don’t think it is gonna be money that makes him go back to the octagon.

Do you agree with Daniel Cormier? Will Khabib ever return to the octagon?
