India sealed a historic series win to top off a spectacular tour of Australia. The tourists displayed tremendous gut and courage as they became the first side to defeat the Aussies at the Gabba after 32 long years. What made the win even more memorable was the fact that Australia captain Tim Paine‘s “see you at the Gabba” sledge blew up in his face.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who was at the recieving end of the verbal volley has come up with yet another cheecky remark. Ashwin thanked Paine for being the perfect hosts in Brisbane. The veteran off spinner didn’t shy away from bringing up how poor Paine was behind the stumps on the final day.

Tim Paine missed the stumping but I started liking him,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. “He invited us, played the perfect hosts by missing the stumping chance and awarded us the series as well. Can’t say he helped us win 2-1 but yeah, on a sarcastic note, he did.

This is the Gabbatoir breached,” he said. “They kept repeating Gabbatoir, right? From the minute we landed in Australia, they kept saying Gabbatoir.

Welcome to the Gabba. I thought Gabba must really be their fortress or something given the way they were hyping.

The win, which will be cherished for decades to come, propelled India to the top of the World Test Championship table. Next up, India plays England at home which will be their final series of the Test Championship. If they manage to win the series at home 2-0, they will seal their place at Lords for the WTC final.
