It’s almost been 3 months since Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the sport. The undefeated fighter from Russia (29-0) stunned the world, when he announced that he was retiring in the post-fight interview, after beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, on the 24th of October, 2020. He revealed that he wouldn’t be able to compete without his late father by the ringside and that he had promised his mother, that the fight against Justin would be his last.

Khabib’s biggest rival, Conor McGregor seemed to respect Khabib’s decision initially(during the time of his announcement). Now, as he nears his much awaited UFC return, against Dustin Poirier, he seems to have gone back on his words; claiming that Khabib’s retirement baffles him and he ‘was not surprised to see him scurry away’.

The news was first reported by Oscar Willis of ‘The Mac Life’, and the same was later tweeted by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a man of his word. There is very little chance that he would come out of retirement, let alone have a rematch against Conor, whom he has already defeated. But, UFC President Dana White is just days away from his meeting with the ‘Eagle‘, as the boss hopes to try his best to have the Russian back, at least for a fight.

What are your thoughts on this? Will we see a Conor vs Khabib rematch?
