Dustin Poirier sprung a surprise when he devastated Conor McGregor, knocking him out in only the second round at the recently concluded UFC 257. Dustin, thereby became the first ever man to knock Conor McGregor out, in the Irishman’s illustrious career. Despite coming as a surprise to many, Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn felt otherwise.

Speaking in an interview with iFL Tv, Eddie Hearn revealed that he had a feeling that Conor wouldn’t win the fight, expressing his dismay for not posting his opinion on social media, before the match. He also added that the defeat might give Conor the hunger back.

Eddie Hearn was quoted as saying, “I love Conor McGregor. I watched that interview that he gave before the fight, and I thought, ‘he ain’t winning this fight’. I should have posted it or something because then I would have looked like a genius. It’s very difficult to have the same kind of hunger. Maybe that defeat will give him that hunger back.”

Conor McGregor, after his defeat, had expressed his desire to take on Dustin Poirier again in rematch. (which will make it a trilogy fight). UFC President, Dana White also claimed that Conor would either become hungrier or just fade away.

Conor getting finished was something very surprising for the entire MMA community. It will be interesting to see how ‘the face of the fight game’ picks himself up and gets back on track.
