Japanese tennis ace Naomi Osaka scripted history at the Australian Open as she claimed her fourth Grand Slam title by defeating American Jennifer Brady in straight sets in the final. Following her victory, Osaka has been flooded with congratulatory messages and wishes from tennis stars, journalists and fans. The latest to heap praises on the champion was Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek.
Swiatek is the current French Open champion having won it in 2020 and becoming the first Polish player to do so. She was also one of the favorites to win the Australian Open title but she couldn’t do so as she fell to Simona Halep in the fourth round. Despite the loss, Swiatek stayed back and watched the rest of the tournament and was seen in the stands when Osaka dispatched Brady to win the title.
‘Really happy that Naomi Osaka won’ – Iga Swiatek
Iga Swiatek was asked about Naomi Osaka’s win at the Australian Open and she stated that it was great to see her win. “I also watched finals and, yeah, I’m really happy that Naomi won. I feel like she’s pretty strong right now and that’s her place to be. So it’s great,” Iga said.
At the moment, Swiatek is taking part in the Adelaide International event where she is through to the pre-quarterfinal. The other big name in the event is World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty. Osaka on the other hand is not taking part in any tournament at present and is soaking in the adulation and applause from her well-deserved title triumph in Australia.
