Interjit Singh Bindra Stadium in Mohali

The Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium, famously known as Mohali Stadium, is located in Mohali, Punjab. It was named after former BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president and former Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) president Inderjit Singh Bindra.

The Mohali Stadium is the home of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings (PBKS) and has a capacity of 26,950. It was established in 1993 and hosted its first match, an ODI match between India and West Indies that same year.

The first Test was played a year later between the home team and Australia. In 2009, it played host to the first T20I between India and Sri Lanka.

The pitch offers bounce most of the time but over the years it also started assisting the spinners as well. Rohit Sharma had slammed the highest individual score (208*) in ODIs here, which helped India post 393/3 which is also the highest innings total here.

Another memorable thing that happened was during the 2011 Cricket World Cup semifinal where India defeated Pakistan to advance to the final. In total, the venue has hosted four World Cup matches.

India’s clash against Sri Lanka in 2019 saw India posting 211/4, the highest T20I innings total. Virat Kohli had played an 82*-run knock in the 2016 T20 World Cup against Australia (the highest individual score at this venue).

Chennai Super Kings registered the highest innings total (240/5) in 2008, while Paul Valthty scored the highest individual runs (120*). Munaf Patel registered the best bowling figures here (5/21).
